So last night was the beaujolais wine and food festival in San Francisco. After waiting at the wrong hotel for abut twenty minutes, we arrived exactly when the event started. My job was to stand at the vendor table for Georges DuBoeuf and pour countless glasses of this year's Beaujolais Nouveax. Sounds terribly boring, I know, but I actually had a lot of fun.We were in a room seperate from the main area, but we had the dj and we were stationed right next to the dessert vendors and the chocolat vendors (woohoo!!). I didn't pour wine on any of the guests and I didn't pour any on me either (sigh of relief). After my shift was finnished, i joined the other volunteers from solano and enjoyed the rest of the evening. It was really fun. I had a glass of beaujolais poured for me and i tried a few of the french foods being sampled. I didn't try any pate, especially stayed away from the steak tartar....ew. I'm just too american I guess. The fashion show happened while i was working in the other room, but i hear it wasn't fabulous anyway ( I still would have like to have seen that). I brought home my own bottle of beaujolais and more baguettes than we know what to do with (we sure looked funny walking through the city with a huge bag of baguettes). I met some people who go to my school who were very nice and i had a good time hanging out with them. I now can write about the event for my "activite cuturelle." All in all, it was a really good experience.
So today is JK's birthday-day!!! I'm gonna call and see when she wants me to come over and make her birthday cookies and other great yummy stuff. So I'm off!
